Innovative Preclinical Models for Pediatric Cancer Research Dates: October 13th – 15th 2026

Dr. Mimi Bandopadhayay and Dr. Joelle Straehla (ECD) will both be in attendance and speaking at the meeting.

Cancer in children represents about 3% of the global incidence of cancer. Yet pediatric cancer exerts an outsized impact. Beyond the physical and emotional toll on children, their families, and communities, the number of years of productive life lost is proportionately higher than with adult cancers.

Current multimodal treatments (surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation) cure many young patients but often cause lifelong health problems in survivors. While next-generation sequencing has catalogued many genetic changes in pediatric tumors, translating that knowledge into better, more targeted therapies requires high-quality preclinical models that accurately reflect the in vivo environment.

This meeting will focus on innovative models and technologies with the potential to transform our understanding of pediatric cancers and drive better treatments. It brings together multidisciplinary experts to advance the field through collaboration.
