The White House’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has proposed a grant-making rule that threatens peer review, international collaboration, and decades of pediatric research protections. Recess is the one time your Senators and Representative are listening closest to their district — and it’s happening now.
Why this matters right now
The proposed rule could undermine independent peer review, restrict international research collaboration, and roll back existing protections for pediatric research. These are the same safeguards that have helped drive decades of progress for kids with brain tumors. Recess is when members of Congress are most accessible, and most focused on what their constituents are telling them.
Three ways to take action

- Send a message now
- Three minutes, prewritten and easy to personalize. Share it with others who might want to take action too
- Request an in-district meeting
- Contact your Member’s district office as early as possible to request a meeting during the August recess. If the Member is unavailable, ask to meet with the District Director or another member of the district staff.
- Attend a town hall
- Check your Representative’s and Senators’ sites for August dates. If you go, be ready to ask a direct question about the rule’s impact on childhood cancer research.
