When Trauma and Grief Intersect: EMDR Strategies for Bereaved Families

This webinar explored a unique form of psychotherapy known as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Designed for parents and caregivers coping with the loss of a child to brain cancer, as well as the hospital partners who support them. EMDR is a type of talk therapy that helps individuals heal from the distress of traumatic memories through the use of rhythmic, side-to-side stimulation—such as guided eye movements, auditory tones, and/or tactile taps—while recalling traumatic events. This technique activates the brain’s natural processing abilities, reducing emotional intensity and promoting healing.
