PBTF Deepens Its Leadership Role in the National Pediatric Cancer Community

The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (PBTF) continues to deepen its leadership within the national childhood cancer community through active involvement in the Coalition Against Childhood Cancer (CAC2).  CAC2 is a collaborative organization uniting more than 500 members dedicated to improving outcomes for children with cancer and their families.

CAC2 brings together advocates, researchers, clinicians, and nonprofit leaders who share a common vision: a world without childhood cancer. By fostering collaboration, information sharing, and strategic action, CAC2 helps member organizations work more effectively and efficiently to amplify collective impact across the pediatric cancer landscape.

At this year’s CAC2 Annual Summit in Washington, D.C., PBTF team members Geoff Still (Executive Director), Mike Henry (Director of Advocacy), Heather Held (Director of Family Support), and Dr. Misha Mehta (Strategic Consultant) joined colleagues from across the country to share resources, build relationships, and move forward meaningful, family-centered initiatives.

The Summit was especially significant for PBTF, as two team members were honored for their leadership and contributions.

Dr. Misha Mehta, a member of CAC2’s Board. of Directors, was named CAC2’s Volunteer of the Year in recognition of her extraordinary contributions to the organization’s educational programming and the webinar relaunch efforts.

CAC2 Board Chair Ginny McLean presented the award, stating, “Misha has truly set a new standard. She has been instrumental in relaunching our webinar series, bringing new energy, strategy, and excellence…. But Misha’s impact goes far beyond logistics or planning. She brings her whole heart to this work and to everything she touches.”

Misha’s devotion to childhood cancer advocacy is deeply rooted in love for her son, Neev, who passed away from DIPG. Out of this profound loss, Misha and her family have become powerful voices in the fight against pediatric brain tumors—leading with empathy, integrity, and a tireless spirit of service.

In another exciting development, PBTF’s Heather Held was elected to the CAC2 Board of Directors. With almost a decade of experience supporting families impacted by brain tumors, Heather brings a vital voice to CAC2’s leadership.

“Heather brings a rare combination of compassion, common sense, and strategic insight to everything she does,” shared Ginny McLean. “She is the utmost professional and will be a tremendous asset to our board and the entire CAC2 community.”

PBTF’s growing role within CAC2 underscores our long-standing belief that real progress happens when organizations work in partnership. Through shared learning, coordinated advocacy, and a deep commitment to family-centered care, we are honored to help shape the future of pediatric cancer support…….together.
