Amy Weinstein
Patient Advocate | External Advisory board for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s Low Grade Glioma SPORE grant & Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s PLGA Research program
Amy Weinstein, M.B.A. has been a lay leader in the pediatric brain tumor space for the past two decades. She has provided a unique blend of strategic research portfolio stewardship, patient advocacy, lobbying savvy, and for-profit business acumen to help accelerate the pace of pediatric brain tumor research. Ms. Weinstein successfully raised and funded over $20 million in research grants and has helped secure over $30 million in grant awards from the National Cancer Institute. She has also implemented three successful grass-roots lobbying efforts which resulted in the Appropriations Bill inclusion of new language for the National Cancer Institute focus on children’s brain tumor research.
Under Ms. Weinstein’s leadership two new targeted therapies have been discovered and are in use in the clinics for children battling brain tumors. One such treatment was the first-ever FDA approved drug therapy developed specifically for children battling PLGA brain tumors (the most common form of brain tumor in kids).
Ms. Weinstein is the former National Director of Research Investments at the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (2019 – 2024). Prior to her affiliation with PBTF, Ms. Weinstein was a founding member and Executive Director for A Kids’ Brain Tumor Cure Foundation (AKBTC), also known as the PLGA Foundation, from 2007 – 2019.
Ms. Weinstein serves as a patient advocate on the external advisory board for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute’s Low Grade Glioma SPORE grant and for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute’s PLGA Research program. She is also a founding member and past Board Chair of the Coalition Against Childhood Cancer. Ms. Weinstein is the inaugural recipient of the 2024 International Society of Pediatric Neuro-Oncology’s (ISPNO) Community Service Award.
Ms. Weinstein holds an undergraduate degree from Cornell University and a Masters in Business Administration from Columbia University. Ms. Weinstein is the mother of 4 children and is thrilled to be able to make a difference in the lives not only of her own off-spring, but those around the world suffering from pediatric brain cancer.
