David Andrysiak Clinical Research Assistant

Award:$212,000 over 3 years (2022 – 2025)
Principal Investigators: Dr. Keith Ligon, Chief Neuropathologist, Dana Farber Cancer Institute

The David Andrysiak Clinical Research Assistant Position provides essential support to Dana Farber Cancer Institute’s local and international PLGA research program activities as well as other brain tumor patients. This position is critical to enable access to collaborative research studies for children and their families who are patients at DFCI’s partner institution, Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH), as well as collaborations with other sites and investigators working on PLGA. The advent of precision medicine approaches to diagnosis, treatment, and clinical trial research has created an explosion of complexity and need for dedicated personnel to advance the mission of the DFCI program and maintain excellence in this area. To achieve this, the David Andrysiak Clinical Research Assistant will perform consent, accrual and data management and analysis of all samples coming from local pediatric patient surgeries in the DFCI (BCH or BWH operating rooms) as well as coordinate sample shipment and collection from sites around the entire United States. The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation’s previous support for these core activities has aided efforts to maximize research and collaborative sharing of tissue and data across all types and grades of brain tumors.
