Leading a New Era of Research

Using Research Investment to Lead Change

This evolution isn’t about funding different science. It’s about funding science differently.

Building on decades of research investment, PBTF is looking beyond the potential of individual projects. We’re now investing in a coordinated portfolio of scientific priorities designed to strengthen one another and help shape how the field moves forward.

That means considering each investment not only for what it can accomplish on its own, but for what it can contribute to the whole. We’ll ask how it:

  • Fills Critical Gaps
  • Fosters Collaboration
  • Complements and Strengthens Our Broader Research Portfolio
  • Contributes to Progress Across the Pediatric Brain Tumor Community

Aross the portfolio, data will be the throughline, turning each discovery into a foundation for the next.

Ultimately, success won’t be measured by the number of projects we fund, or the number of papers published. It will be measured by how effectively those investments work together to advance discovery, strengthen the field, and improve outcomes for every child.

Many of the projects and partnerships we’ve funded over the past three decades already reflect this collaborative approach. Now, we will use our role as a funder more intentionally, building on the infrastructure already in place and requiring PBTF-funded research to draw from and contribute data back to the broader scientific community.

Because no single institution, organization, or investigator can change the trajectory of pediatric brain tumor research alone.

It will take new partnerships, bold collaboration, and a shared commitment to putting children first.

That’s why PBTF will prioritize research that brings together expertise across disciplines, institutions, industries, and organizations, turning collective expertise into greater impact for children across every brain tumor type.

Our database of currently and previously funded projects makes it easy to learn about the research we fund. Search awards by keyword, pediatric brain tumor type, type of science, and institution.

Pediatric brain tumor patients, their families, and doctors depend on the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation to make sure progress towards a cure doesn't stop. But while the need for childhood brain cancer research grows, funding isn't keeping up. Help us close the research funding gap. Donate or start a fundraiser today.
