Mr. Kennedy will lead a comprehensive medical stewardship program and help drive the organization’s research strategy.
January 6, 2025 – Today, the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (PBTF) announced that longtime pediatric cancer advocate Scott Kennedy will join the organization as Vice President of Medical Stewardship and Research. Mr. Kennedy comes to the PBTF from Solving Kids’ Cancer, an organization he founded and led as Executive Director for nearly two decades.
At the PBTF, Mr. Kennedy will develop a robust medical stewardship program, helping to guide and advocate for families as they navigate the challenges of diagnosis and beyond. Through this expansion, medical stewardship will become the fourth pillar of the PBTF’s mission alongside family support, research, and advocacy.
“Through both his knowledge and empathy, Scott has become a trusted resource and advocate for families navigating an extraordinarily challenging time,” said Jeffrey Gelfand, Board Chair of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. “His presence will further empower us to realize our mission of being the cavalry for families every step of the way.”
He will also collaborate with the PBTF’s Research Advisory Network (RAN) to direct research strategy, centering the family perspective in funding decisions. “Scott joining the PBTF will enhance the services that the PBTF offers to families upon receiving the news of a brain tumor diagnosis,” said Geoff Still, Chief Operating Officer of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. “Scott will work closely with our Research Advisory Network, researchers and donors to identify research projects and clinical trials that have the potential for the best outcomes for children with brain tumors.”
As Executive Director of Solving Kids’ Cancer, Mr. Kennedy helped lead the identification, funding, and management of the organization’s scientific programs. Under his leadership, the nonprofit became well-known for its unique knowledge of the global childhood cancer landscape and for making smart investments in promising research and treatments. Throughout his career, Mr. Kennedy has also dedicated himself by helping guide families through diagnosis and beyond, providing them with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions.
“The PBTF is a critical resource for families, and I have long admired its mission,” said Scott Kennedy. “I am confident that together we will have an even greater impact, providing families with a unified and comprehensive support system.”
