Every family – regardless of where they live – deserves access to quality cancer care. However, that’s often not the case for children with brain cancer. A Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation-funded report by the Central Brain Tumor Registry of the United States has revealed significant disparities in pediatric brain tumor mortality and incidence rates across the country.
Your state’s cancer plan acts as a blueprint for addressing the burden of cancer in your community. While all plans focus on adult cancers, few address the unique needs of children and their families. The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation is spearheading an initiative to include language and funding for pediatric patients in every state’s cancer plan.
Pediatric cancer is often overlooked in state cancer plans, leading to disparate funding, attention, and outcomes compared to adults.
